About Me.

I am a newly registered childminder but have fourteen years  experience as a paediatric nurse, I aim to provide a childminding service that allows boys and girls to learn and develop in a safe, secure, home-based environment.  I offer a warm and friendly setting and will work in partnership with parents to provide the best level of care and attention to help support children's development during the early years and beyond. I am registered to care for  upto 10 children under the age of 12. Of these 12 no more than 6 under 8 years old. Of those six, no more than three may be under 5 years. And of those three children, no more than two may be under 18 months of age.

I will consider care of any child no matter what their range of needs.  Prior to committing to a contract, I will ensure that I am able to meet your child’s individual care needs, and that a plan of care is agreed with you.  This will give everyone the opportunity to focus on supporting the child at whatever stage of development they start at. The child will be given the opportunity to be involved and make choices around the activities and games on offer. My service is open to all children and families regardless of their gender, racial origins, culture, religion or family background.

I will provide care monday –Friday 8:00-17:30.  I will negotiate individual contracts with each child. These hours can be negotiable in order to meet the needs of your family. All children will be welcomed into my home and I will encourage the other children in my care to support me with this. I will offer a settling in period.  The length of this can be negotiated with families. During that time if I feel that I cannot give your child the correct care, or you as the parents believe I cannot meet the needs of your child, the contract can cease. I currently have no plan to offer pick ups and drop offs at school but this can be discussed at our initial visit and I may be able to accommodate some families.

Play will be at the centre of your child’s learning and development, and a wide range of activities and experiences appropriate to the age and stage of development will be offered. Chidren will regularly attend baby and toddler groups, library story times, trips to the park, seaside and other outings.  We have a regular routine in the household that revolves around playtimes, rest times and meal times. This will be discussed with parents and where possible the childs home routine will be followed.

My home consists of a lounge/dining room, kitchen, utility room, downstairs toilet.  Your childs care will be on this lower level.  Although I am able to use my spare 4th bedroom in order for children to take naps. Upstairs I have four bedrooms and two bathrooms. I have a large secure back garden which will be available for your child to play in.

I have two children of primary school age. My husband also lives in the premises; he is fully DBS

checked and is available if an emergency occurs.  We also have two very friendly small dogs.  Both have been brought up around my children and they will never be left unsupervised with your children.

I have a complaints procedure,   I hope parents will feel able to come to me with any worries and complaints and I will endeavour to sort things out as a priority. However if parents wish they are welcome to contact the CIW at any time with compliments, complaints and concerns. The address is: government building, Sarn Mynach, Llandudno junction, Conwy, LL31 9RZ. Tel: 0300 790 0126.

I have an emergency policy which covers in depth what will happen in an emergency situation.  As registered nurse if an accident occurs I will provide a high level of emergency first aid.  You will be contacted when this occurs and an incident report form will be filled in.

I have fire alarms fitted on both floors of the house, these are checked regularly. Children will take part in a practice drill regularly to ensure they are clear on what to do if an emergency occurs.

This statement of purpose will be kept under review and revised as appropriate.  Where practicable the Care Inspectorate Wales will be notified of any revision at least 28 days before it takes effect.

Kinderley

I currently use kinderley which is an online web and mobile app it makes it quick and easy for  me to securely capture and share a child's learning journey without the need for paperwork.

By using kinderley I can share photos and videos with parents, tis way they get a precious insight into their children’s daily activities and everyday miracles, as well as understanding how to support learning and development at home.
